15,000 Sisters, One Teacher: Patna’s Khan Sir Celebrates Raksha Bandhan Like Never Before

Patna witnessed an extraordinary Raksha Bandhan in 2025 as celebrated educator Khan Sir was tied over 15,000 rakhis by his female students at the SK Memorial Hall. The heartwarming gathering, filled with love, laughter, and tradition, has been hailed as one of the largest Raksha Bandhan celebrations in the country.

The sheer scale of the event was remarkable. Queues of students stretched through the hall, and by the end of the day, the weight of the rakhis—estimated at nearly 20 kilograms—left Khan Sir barely able to lift his hands. The celebration was moved from his coaching center to the much larger venue to accommodate the unprecedented turnout.

To honor his “sisters,” Khan Sir arranged a feast of 156 dishes, ensuring every participant felt cherished. He has no biological sister but considers every girl who studies with him part of his family. For him, Raksha Bandhan is not bound by blood but by bonds of trust, respect, and shared humanity that transcend caste, religion, and state.

In a gesture of empowerment, Khan Sir gifted each sister an educational course for just ₹99, turning the day into not just a celebration of love but also of learning and opportunity. Speaking to the media, he said, “For me, every girl who comes to study is a sister, and celebrating this bond is my greatest fortune. Today my hands were so heavy I couldn’t raise them—it’s a blessing in itself.”

Photos and videos from the celebration have gone viral, with millions admiring how one teacher could inspire such affection. In a festival rooted in the promise of protection, Khan Sir’s bond with his students became a living example of how family can be chosen, nurtured, and celebrated.
